Traditionally, the concept of just transition put the emphasis on the protection of workers’ rights. However, today, the conceptual dimension of this notion focuses mainly on environmental issues.

This article describes, on the one hand, research at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) aiming to facilitate spaces for connection between the public administration, the public university and the citizens of Gipuzkoa, a territory of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, with the purpose of reflecting on the challenges of the future in the short-medium term.

This article presents the work carried out by Agirre Lehendakaria Center (ALC) in a partnership with the “Innovation and Technology for Development” Center (itdUPM) and Iberdrola, for the implementation and monitoring of the Open Innovation Platform in Lada and Velilla de Río Carrión.

The sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) represent the key technology for the sector’s ecological transition. In addition to decarbonizing flights, in terms of life cycle, they generate wealth and quality employment.
