Unemployment and precariousness are one of the major determinants of poverty in Spain and have been aggravated by the economic crisis of the last decade. The lack of resources threatens the food security of families who are forced to adopt purchasing strategies that lead to a reduction in the consumption of fresh food and an increase in refined and ultraprocessed products.

The digitalization processes started in the Third Industrial Revolution have given way to a technological ecosystem characterized by connectivity, innovation, flexibility and automation. This new ecosystem, which some authors call the Fourth Industrial Revolution, has important consequences for the environment and employment. Consequently, the digital transformation may facilitate or limit the achievement of the goals set out in the Agenda 2030.

How new technologies will impact society in the coming years or how Artificial Intelligence can help sectors such as the economy or the environment is a question we all ask ourselves.

The article emphasizes the need for the financial system to be aligned with the necessary transition towards a more sustainable economic model. While sustainability has different dimensions (including social and governance), we concentrate our efforts on climate change, as it has attracted the need for urgent actions by financial markets and institutions, on ground of financial stability.
